Draper Platforms

John Deere Draper Platforms

A draper platform cuts soybeans, wheat and other small grains and carries the crop on belts to the feeder house for a smooth, even feed. John Deere offers two families: HDR hinged-frame drapers with a rigid cutterbar, and RDF HydraFlex drapers with a flexible cutterbar that hugs the ground.

Koenig Equipment sells and supports draper platforms across Ohio and Indiana. Request a quote and our team will help you choose the width and style for your combine and crops.

Which Draper Is Right for You?

RDF HydraFlex drapers let the cutterbar flex 7.5 in. to cut close to the ground, which helps in soybeans. HDR drapers pivot, glide and flex as a hinged frame over rolling and uneven fields while keeping a rigid cutterbar.

John Deere Draper Platform FAQs

What is the difference between an HDR and an RDF draper?
The RDF is a rigid-frame draper with a HydraFlex cutterbar that floats 7.5 in. to follow the ground, controlled from the cab. The HDR is a hinged-frame draper with a rigid cutterbar that pivots, glides and flexes with the terrain.

Which combines do these drapers fit?
The model pages list knife speeds for John Deere X Series and S Series combines: 520 cycles per minute on an X Series and 490 on an S Series.

How do Grain Saver Draper Belts help?
Grain Saver Draper Belts use a crosshair design that traps grain before it rolls past the cutterbar, reducing cutterbar loss by 25 percent compared to standard draper belts. They are on the HDR drapers.

What is the two-speed center feed on RDF drapers?
The low setting runs the feed drum at 200 rpm to handle easy-shelling crops like soybeans gently, and the high setting runs at 240 rpm to prevent slug feeding in canola or high-yielding cereals.

How many acres an hour can an HDR50 cover?
Paired with an X9 1100 combine, one HDR50 can harvest over 30 acres an hour of wheat and soybeans.
