The John Deere HDR40 has a 40 ft rigid cutterbar on a hinged frame, with an overall platform length of 42.8 ft. The hinged design lets the draper pivot and glide to follow the ground in rolling fields.
The HDR40 lists knife speeds for both X Series and S-Series combines: 520 cycles per minute on an X Series and 490 cycles per minute on an S-Series. The double-cut, dual-drive, shaft-driven cutterbar keeps cutting consistent across the width.
Grain Saver Draper Belts use a crosshair design to trap grain before it rolls past the cutterbar, reducing cutterbar loss by 25 percent compared to standard draper belts. Optional fingered top augers can cut header loss by up to 25 percent in high-volume canola, and a center section seal kit reduces center section losses by up to 45 percent.
Position Control Gauge Wheels help you hold the desired stubble height, and operators set cut height from the cab instead of getting out to adjust it. Electrohydraulic header height sensing works both on and off the ground.
The HDR40 pickup reel is 42 in. in diameter with six poly bats and nylon fingers, with hydraulic height and speed control and operating speeds from 8 to 70 rpm. You can capture downed crop by raising the gauge wheels and extending the reel out and down with a push of a button on the CommandARM console.
