Chisel Plow and Coulter Chisel FAQs
How deep does a John Deere chisel plow work?
On the 2430, rigid and TruPosition standards work to 8 inches and spring-reset TruDepth standards to 12 inches. On the 610, rigid standards till to 8 inches and Tru-Depth standards to 12 inches. CC Series coulter chisels have a recommended operating depth of 6 to 8 inches with a 10 inch maximum.
What size tractor do I need for the 2430?
Plan on roughly 6 to 10 HP per foot of width with rigid or TruPosition standards on 12 inch spacing, more with TruDepth standards. The 2430 frame is built to accommodate tractors up to 600 engine HP.
What is TruSet Active?
TruSet Active adjusts tillage depth for changing field conditions, such as tire sink in soft soil or residue build-up on tires, with no need for operator input. It comes in base on CC Series coulter chisels.
How fast can I run a coulter chisel?
CC Series coulter chisels run at 6 to 7 mph. The 610 and 2430 chisel plows run at 5 to 7 mph.
Which standards are available on the 610?
Rigid standards suit fields with few obstructions, TruPosition standards have a 550 lb trip for fields with rocks, and Tru-Depth standards handle rocky ground and heavy draft with a 1,250 lb trip force.
