Replacing a Control or Controller
Controls include the switches, levers and joysticks you use in the cab. Controllers are the electronic units that read those inputs and run the machine. A problem with either can look like a failed hydraulic or transmission part.
Before you replace a controller, check fuses, connectors and wiring, and note any codes on the display. Many problems turn out to be a loose connection or damaged wire.

Do I need to program a new controller?
Many John Deere controllers need software loaded for your machine after they are installed. Our service department can do the programming.
My joystick or switch only works some of the time. What should I check?
Check the connector for corrosion or bent pins and look for chafed wiring where it moves. Intermittent problems are often in the wiring, not the control.
How do I find the right part number?
Look up your machine by model and serial number in the John Deere Parts Catalog, or give our parts counter your serial number and we will find it for you.
