Getting a Clean Cut When Mulching
Mulching works by cutting each clipping more than once before it falls back into the lawn. That takes sharp mulching blades, a mulch kit or baffles that fit your deck, and a clean underside.
Keep blades sharp and balanced, and replace them when they are bent or worn thin. Scrape built up grass from under the deck, since a packed deck cannot move clippings the way it should.

Why is my mower leaving clumps when mulching?
Wet grass, a dull blade, a packed deck or cutting too much at once are common causes. Mow when the grass is dry and take off no more than about a third of the blade at a time.
Do I need special blades to mulch?
Most decks mulch best with mulching blades and the mulch kit made for that deck. Check the parts diagram for your mower.
