ACTIVE IMPLEMENT GUIDANCE Precision Ag Technology FAQs

What does John Deere Active Implement Guidance do?

John Deere Active Implement Guidance (AIG) automatically steers a drawn implement to the guidance line using GPS receiver position data sent to the implement steering system. That reduces implement drift caused by varying soil conditions and gravity on sidehills.

What are the benefits of John Deere Active Implement Guidance?

AIG places inputs more accurately and makes repeatable passes through the season, which helps protect the crop in later passes and reduces compaction. Strip-till producers can better align seed placement with fertilizer placement, and specialty crop growers who make frequent passes see value as well.

Which tractors work with John Deere Active Implement Guidance?

Fingertip control through the tractor SCV is available on John Deere Large-Frame 7X30 and 7R, 8XXX and 8R, and 9XXX and 9R Series tractors. AIG is available for all other John Deere and non-John Deere tractors by adding an external SCV valve and SCV switch, with open or closed-center hydraulics.

What receivers does John Deere Active Implement Guidance use?

AIG offers flexibility of signal options with the StarFire 3000 and StarFire 6000 receivers. For shared signal, the StarFire 7500, 7000 and 6000 receivers can be used interchangeably, and the tractor must have a higher correction signal than the implement receiver.

Does John Deere Active Implement Guidance require special equipment on the implement?

Yes. AIG requires an implement steering mechanism. John Deere controls that mechanism through the tractor's SCV, so operators can quickly engage or disengage AIG and straighten the implement after a turn by feathering the SCV lever.
