What is the difference between the M and R walk-behind mowers?
The M models (W36M and W48M) use a 14.5 HP V-twin engine. The R models offer more power, from 15.5 HP on the W36R up to 23.5 HP on the W61R, and add the larger 52 and 61 inch deck sizes.
What deck size should I choose?
A 36 inch deck fits through more backyard gates and tight spaces. The 48 and 52 inch decks cover more ground on open lawns, and the 61 inch W61R is the widest in the line.
Do John Deere walk-behind mowers have a hydrostatic drive?
Yes. Every model listed here is self-propelled with a hydrostatic drive system and a floating mower deck.
Can a John Deere walk-behind mower run on propane?
John Deere offers EPA-approved, field-installed propane conversion kits for specific commercial walk-behind mowers. Propane tanks are not included. Ask our team which models qualify.
