17 P EXCAVATOR Compact Excavator FAQs

How big is the John Deere 17 P mini excavator?

The 17 P has an operating weight of 3,790 lb, 14.5 hp net power and a 7 ft 2 in. maximum digging depth. It is 51 in. at its widest and can narrow to 39 in. when needed.

Can the John Deere 17 P fit through narrow gates and pathways?

Yes. The standard variable-width undercarriage retracts hydraulically and the backfill blade wings fold in, so the 17 P narrows to 39 in. for tight spaces. Extend it again for better stability when digging or lifting.

What auxiliary hydraulics are available on the John Deere 17 P?

The 17 P can come from the factory with 1 or 2 sets of auxiliary hydraulic lines, with Aux 1 on the right joystick and Aux 2 on the left. Flow is adjusted with a knob under the arm rest, and a lever selects one-way or two-way flow.

What coupler options does the John Deere 17 P have?

You can choose a fixed-pin coupler that lets you turn the bucket around to a shovel position, or a dealer installed wedge coupler if you have buckets and attachments from earlier machines.

What engine does the John Deere 17 P use?

The 17 P uses a quiet Yanmar engine that meets Final Tier 4 without aftertreatment. Valve lash intervals are 1000 hours, and daily service is at ground level.

Where can I buy genuine parts for my John Deere 17 P?

You can shop genuine John Deere 17 P parts on Koenig Marketplace, including filters, hydraulic parts and ground engaging parts. Choose same-day delivery from a nearby Koenig store or pick up in store. Our trained technicians across Ohio and Indiana can also handle your 17 P's regular maintenance and repairs.
